Church, the betrothed to Christ is urged to love Him with all of thine heart “For I
am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one
husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ”, 2 Corinthians
11:2.
The betrothed, sealed by the priceless gift of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) is
called to grow to a matured bride, a transformation captained by the Holy Spirit
and fulfilled in accordance with His desire upon our willingness to surrender to the
call.
“As there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of
the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show the
bride, the Lamb’s wife”, Revelation 21:9-10.
The Bride is unveiled by the angel as the Holy City of Jerusalem, representing
Christ’s bride as people living in the Glory of God. Apostle John witnesses her in
the spirit as a rare jewel full of radiance as from a clear crystal. To witness her
beauty Apostle John underwent spiritual ‘pipto’ multiple times, for the beauty of
the perfect bride is revealed in spiritual depths. May we grow in spiritual maturity
through the Word to witness true spiritual beauty, one that is hidden to the naked
eye.
“Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun,
as majestic as the stars in procession?” Song of Solomon 6:10.
Song of Solomon, the love song between Christ the groom and the church His
Bride, describes her beauty as clear as the sun, a fair moon yet majestic as the stars.
The Bride looketh forth as the morning, shining the light of Christ upon our lives
and the lives of others, the fair moon that never ceases to shine even in the darkest
nights, revealing none but her Lord to the lost world. As radiant as the sun she
shines, the rays of His holiness shining from a soul washed clean by His blood. Her
beauty was ramparted by His majesty; His Glory manifested through the power of
her prowess.
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I
awakened you under the apple tree. There your mother brought you forth; There
she who bore you brought you forth”, Song of Solomon 8:5
The beautiful virgin in Song of Solomon is described to stay true to her love for
her shepherd boy despite the affectionate promises made to her by the prominent
figure of those days, King Solomon. The world never ceases to allure us toward
him, beckoning us to indulge in the adulterous act of loving anything else like
Him. Zealous yet jealous in loving, the groom desires to possess our hearts in full
calling for complete dependency, a reliance he loves to honor.
“Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed
with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?” Song of
Solomon 3:6.
Leaning on to the bosom of her groom, the bride’s mouth pours out the heartbeat
of her Lord. Our fellowship defines the content of the conversations we indulge in.
Learning from the transfiguration of Jesus at Mount Tabor, Jesus was found
conversing with Moses and Elijah (Matthew 17:2) about the upcoming deliverance
through the Cross and the promise of eternal life.
Leaning on the bosom of the Mighty and the Holy One as witnessed by Apostle John in Revelation 1:12, let us
profess His glory, for we, His undefiled Bride also shares with Him in His majestic glory.
Holy living therefore ought to become our new way of living; choosing to traverse along paths that remain alien to the world we currently reside in.
The journey though difficult is eased by the love of our Lord. Forget ye not, the
transformation we are called to undergo- to be His mature Bride before He returns.
